Whisky Wonderland: Master of Malt whisky calendar 2024

Ok, forget chocolate, people. Master of Malt have released their whisky calendar for 2024 and we’re talking 24 days of liquid gold that’ll make your taste buds dance, and your liver question its life choices.
What’s Inside:
25 drams bourbon and whisky from boutique producers and a few world-renowned distilleries. The bulk of the 30ml samples are admittedly scotch whisky, but there a few other Irish whiskys, one English, a few from the US and one from India. Let’s take a closer look at a few of the samples:

The Highland Park 18 Year Old – Viking Pride:
The Highland Park 18 Year Old, also known as Viking Pride, is a complex single malt Scotch. Its nose offers roasted coffee, smoky honey cake, and heather flowers. On the palate, it’s beautifully balanced with hints of burnt orange zest, smoky nuts, and dried apricots. While not necessarily a “must-have,” it’s a pleasant choice for those seeking a well-rounded whisky.

The Glen Grant 18 Year Old Rare Edition:
a refined single malt that showcases a vibrant golden hue and aroma of floral notes and oak. On the palate, it reveals complexity with flavours of malted caramel, vanilla, and dried fruits, complemented by a medium finish featuring buttery toffee and subtle spices. While some critics note a desire for a richer profile, the whisky’s clean and crisp character makes it an excellent choice for both newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts, earning a solid score of 86/100

Redbreast 12 Year Old Cask Strength whisky:
Redbreast 12 Year Old Cask Strength is a standout Irish whiskey that is matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, resulting in a rich tapestry of flavours.
The nose offers a delightful blend of tropical fruits, sherry sweetness, and a hint of mint. On the palate, it’s thick and velvety, bursting with stewed fruits and spices. The finish is long and warming, leaving you craving more.
The Master of Malt whisky advent calendar 2024 is now available for pre-order for £99.95 and will be delivered in very early October.  It’s like a boozy treasure hunt—minus the pirate hat.
